Sidepots Setup

Sidepots are optional side competitions that run alongside your main tournament, giving bowlers additional ways to win.

Types of Sidepots

Handicap Sidepots

Based on bowlers' handicap scores (actual + handicap pins). Popular because they level the playing field for all skill levels.

Scratch Sidepots

Based on actual pinfall only. Typically attracts higher-average bowlers looking for additional competition.

Configuring Sidepots

  1. During tournament setup, enable "Handicap Sidepots" or "Scratch Sidepots"
  2. Set the entry fee for each sidepot
  3. Configure the payout structure (places paid, percentages)
  4. Sidepots become available during bowler registration

Sidepot Registration

When registering bowlers:

  • Sidepot options appear as checkboxes
  • Bowlers can opt into any combination of sidepots
  • Entry fees are added to their total

Sidepot Payouts

Tournament Doctor calculates sidepot standings separately from the main event:

  • Separate prize pools for each sidepot
  • Automatic tie handling
  • Consolidated payout reports show all winnings

Pro Tip

Offering both handicap and scratch sidepots maximizes participation - handicap bowlers and scratch bowlers both have competitive options.
