Seeding Bowlers

Understand how Tournament Doctor seeds bowlers into brackets and stepladders.

Automatic Seeding

Tournament Doctor automatically seeds bowlers based on qualifying scores:

  • Highest qualifying score = #1 seed
  • Second highest = #2 seed
  • And so on...

Seeding for Brackets

Bracket seeding follows standard tournament bracket positioning:

  • #1 seed faces lowest seed in first potential matchup
  • Seeds are positioned to meet in later rounds if both advance
  • Prevents top seeds from meeting early

Seeding for Stepladder

Stepladder seeding places the top qualifier in the advantageous final position:

  • #1 seed waits for the championship match
  • Lower seeds must win multiple matches to reach the top

Tiebreakers

When bowlers are tied in qualifying, tiebreakers determine seeding:

  1. High game during qualifying
  2. High game scratch (if handicap event)
  3. Head-to-head if applicable
  4. Random draw
